Nethili Karuvadu Kuzhambu Recipe / Dry Fish Curry / Dried Anchovies Curry

This is one of ma fav recipe that my mom makes.:-) I got this recipe from my mom..she is a good cook..

This is my mom's special nethili karuvadu kulambu recipe

Nethili Karuvadu Kuzhambu / Dry Fish Curry / Dried Anchovies Curry

  • Soak the dried Anchovies for 4 to 5 hours.

  • Wash the fish thoroughly to remove the salt and sand and split the anchovies and remove the bones.

  • Grind coconut,cumin.onion.little curry leaves,chili powder, turmeric to fine paste.

  • Prepare tamarind water.

Cut the plantain ,brinjal green chilli and chilli bajji milagai into thin slices and add them to tamarind water(add little sea salt-kal uppu).

Take a mud pot add the grinded mixture, add the tamarind water with brinjal,plantain,chilli bajji milagai  and green chilli.

  • Add cleaned dry fish in the mixture.

  • Add table salt to taste and boil it till the raw smell goes off.

  • Finally add coconut oil and curry leaves and close the lid.

  • Serve with Rice.

Ingredients :

    Dried Anchovies / Nethili Karuvadu -300 gms(cleaned)
    Grated coconut -1/4 cup
    Cumin seeds -1 tspn
    Small onion -5 nos
    Chilli powder-1/2 tspn
    Turmeric powder -1/4 tspn
    Tamarind water -1/2 cup
    Raw plantain -1 nos
    Brinjal -2 nos
    Green chilli - 1
    Chilli Bajji Milagai -1 optional
    Coconut oil - needed
    Curry leaves needed
    Sea salt & Table salt needed

Method :
